Is there anywhere on the net that I can go to determine what Indian Tribe someone came from by using Last name

My grandmother would like to know what tribe out of Ohio that her grandmother came from. Does anyone know where I could possible find this information?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I doubt the surname alone would be sufficient. Few come to mind that would be that focused.

It would be easier to do with more information: the usual family history genealogy research.

If your ancestor was enumerated 1900 in Indian Territory you may be able to learn in some cases at least an individual's percentage and what tribal rez lands like county they were enumerated at. I've looked at some others in CA with a lot less info, if I hadn't already known the person's affiliated history I'm not sure it would have been easy to discern.
