Question:

On a census what does the word "Daur" mean?

Im researching my family tree & in one of the entries on the 1881 census it states the relationship between my relative and the head of the household is Daur

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It means daughter. You will also find listed everyone else present in the house at the date of the census, such as visitors and servants. I imagine this was done to avoid ambiguity. For example, if someone's occupation is a servant they are not necessarily servant to the household in which they live... hence each person is described in terms of their relationship to the head of the household.
