Do you live in Locust Grove, Ga?

I live in West Virgina, and I am looking for someone to send me digital photos of my mothers grave in Locust Grove, Ga.

She is buried behind the police department.

ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated.

There are two ways you could go about this.

The first way is that you can go to the website Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness. I noticed that Locust Grove is in Henry County and took the liberty of looking up Henry county to see if there were any volunteers. There appear to be two. One will take still pictures of tombstones and the other does cemetery lookups and still photos. The rules of the site ask that you DO NOT write to them both at the same time and ask for the same thing. I would write to one and if that person isn't able to do it, then approach the other to do it. Here is the link

Of course don't forget to thank your volunteer for their time. I know that that should be obvious, but there are people out there whoaren't very gracious for people taking time out of their schedule to do them a favor. Most people just want you to pay they favor forward.

The second way you could approach this is to go to
www.findagrave.com
and see if your mother is already listed in the 15 million entries they have. If she isn't, I would set up a basic page uploading her basic information in the cemetery she is buried in including her name, date of birth and date of death. Also, include any information that might help someone locate her grave. Once the page is set up there is a button on the page that says "Request a photo" Once you press this button, find a grave will E-mail all of their volunteers in that area of your request. When a find a grave volunteer responds, findagrave will E-mail you and you can go to the page get the photo. Both ways have worked beautifully for me and best of all, both ways have been free. All it costs you is a little time.
