Question:

Has anyone heard of the city "Goloschoetz" in Prussia?

It was located in Prussia Germany around the 1860's-1880's. It was recorded on my grand parents marriage license as the birthplace of my grandfather's father. I am 99.9% sure about the spelling, the handwriting is clear and legible, although the "oe" could be an " 㶠". Any information would be useful.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It could be Golschowitz - once part of the Prussian province of Ober Silesien (Upper Silesia) - today part of Poland.

Golschowitz - province of Ober Silesien, administrative district of Oppeln, county of Neustadt.

Also called Goldenau from 1936-45 while still part of Germany.

The nearest Catholic parish was in Kujau.

Golschowitz is now Golczowice, Poland, or alternatively, Zlotniki , Poland.

Hope this helps.
