Ancestry.com (background) help?

I'm trying to help this elderly lady find the man she was married to in 1945. Marriage lasted a year, and he is probably dead now, if so, I need a death certificate for her. All I have is a name, state he was born in and age. Anyone want a challenge for the fun of it??

She has no money to hire anyone and pay for those website searches - nor do I. I'm sure someone out there has a membership to one of those sites and would like to dig info up on a stranger just for the fun of it. if so - HELP! :-)
