Question:

Does anyone know how you can trace your family tree when relatives have been born abroad?

My Mum was born in India & my Granny's death was registered there too - we have my Mums birth certificate but cant trace granny's death (grandad died a long time ago so cant ask him, likewise all of granny's other relatives who knew her) - Im trying to trace both granny's death certificate & the birth/death/marriage certificates of other relatives in India.

The problem seems to be that Mum was born & granny died (& all the other births/marriages/deaths happened in the 1940's when control of India was being handed back to the people of India & both the British & Indian authorities kept completely different records, neither of which we can find as the people involved weren't in the British military.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - Mum's been trying to do this for years but doesnt know where to start so I thought I'd try to help.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Try through the genalogy website of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. It seem's to me that they have ton's of genealogy avaiable. I have done research there myself.
