Thanks for the reply and doing the search, i have all the info from ancestry and other sites. I have found 3 Generations of women with the first name phfurmutus it took some doing as in nearly all instances it has been spelt differently. I was wondering if anybody knew where the name may have originated from as it is an unusual name. The furthest back i have been is 1837 in Kendal, Westmorland Furmutus Whiteley who is on the 1841 census.
