Question:

Can you help me discover my Bartlett ancestors?

I'm having some difficulty tracing my Bartlett ancestry back any earlier than the 19th century. My ancestor, James Bartlett, married Nancy Shannon. He was born in Ohio, probably around the year 1819.

We don't know much about him except that he traveled to Michigan at some point in the 1830s or '40s when he had my great-great grandfather, Joseph Bartlett, in 1848. Joseph Bartlett married Hester Berger.

The only bit of information I have regarding my Bartlett lineage pre-1819 is an oral history about the "Bartlett Brothers" who immigrated to the United States from England. I've spoken to other Bartletts who also passed down the story. Some remember it as three brothers, but in my family it's two.

If anybody can fill in a gap or give me a lead, I'd be most appreciative. I have used paid and free websites, all to no avail.
