The next step would be to go online and check out some of the genealogy websites like ancestry.com, famsearch.org, tribalpages.com and rootsweb.com. Some services are free, others are not. Many of the also allow you to construct a family tree online. Buying a membership in a genealogy website can be very helpful. Once you get back five or six generations, it may actually become easier to find people, because those ancestors will have many more descendants who may have posted information. Good Luck!
