I did get one hit for the spelling of KANTROWIZ and that family was from Russia...if I use an alternate spelling of KANTROWITZ, I end up with 40 hits and the countries of Russia, Poland, Belarus, Lithuania, and Latvia.

If your family has Jewish roots, you should certainly explore this site. If not, I think that similar countries would result.
