Question:

Phlogmonous Erysipcks?

someone died from this was wondering what it is

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It the spelling is incorrect and if it should be 'Phlegmonous,' it would apply to a widespread inflammation of tissue with supperation (pus).
If it becomes a systemic infection, rather than localized, you can die of sepsis.
The suffix 'Ery' usually applies to redness of skin or red blood cells. Without the correct spelling, I would guess that it was a severe purulent infection that spread to the entire body, shutting down its defensive barriers. This used to happen a lot with ruptured appendix before the advent of antibiotics.
