Charles Alexander Douglas or John Baily from Tennessee?

I have a subscription to ancestry.com, as does my sister, but neither of us has had any luck locating the biological parents of these 2 men born in, or near, Maury County, Tennessee between 1870 and 1880. All paths seem to lead only to Charles' adopted/foster parents, Hugh and Alice (Pope) Douglas. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what would help us find them prior to the adoption?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Depends was he adopted because his parents died.Or was he given up for adoption? you would need to find that answer first. Have you tried finding his will,maybe listed actual birth parents, does he show up on the 1870 or 1880 census with his birth parents? Did he serve in the military,sometimes military papers can be very helpful, how about voters registration? sorry I can't be more helpful. I don't know much about the adoption process in the 1800's Good Luck with your research.
