Where do I find death certificates for the 1800's from IL?

I need a copy of a death certificate from about 1880. Cook county IL

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: If you want a true copy of the original, you go to the Cook County Building (funky building that has an entrance on LaSalle for the County and an entrance on Clark St for the City...or is it the other way around???) Cook County lost all of their records from pre-fire. But they have the most complete and well-indexed records in the State post-1872.
