Question:

Who contributed most to the Persian gene pool?

I find the history of the Middle East to be extremely intriguing. There is no question that the main stock of Persian people's genetic makeup is Indo-European, however over the centuries many different groups of people have contributed to our bloodline since Iran was and still is the corssroads of Asia. It is extremely hard to tell how much racial intermingling went on in Iran throughout it's long history because we can't go back in time. I have a really neat question though. If you love history you will most likely be able to answer this. I don't know if there is a definitive answer to this but here it goes: Who contributed most to the gene pool of modern day Persian people? Arabs? Mongolians? Greeks? Russians? Turks? Etc? I myself am Persian but I find this question difficult to answer and I have been asking it my whole life. My guess would be Arabs especially after the spread of Islam, but maybe it isn't. I love to get extra opinions! let me know what YOU think!
