Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: If your Mother's family can go back at least 3 generations and her mother's family can recite the last 3 generations and no one can come up with a common sister or brother or Grandfather or grandmother who is a brother or sisterthen all you two share is a common last name. And this is very common around the world. Besides, In a lot of places it is legal to marry a 2nd cousin and the gene pool is not affected We,of all races, and some mixed races are related some way some where many, many yrs ago. So,pay no attention to those who are ignorant and think they are wise,OK? And ask them ,if they are so smart to name back 3 generations where you two share a common relativeby blood and not by marriage. When I was 14 yrs old I saw a girl I really liked( along qwith her 2 other sister,It was hard to choose. I found out that on my Granfathers side were Hubbards (His last name, same as ,my mother's maiden name) These girls ,also were Hubbards, but looked different than my cousins. So I asked my Grandmother if we were related? She was born in 1898 and could recite her bloodline back to England in the 1700's as well as my Grandfather's side back that far too( Back then without TV,radio, telephones, and other fast ways to communicate would recite theiir ancestery) She told me that ,no, because no one could tie these Hubbards to my Hubbards! So, NO YOU TWO ARE NOT RELATED OR IF YOU ARE IT IS WAY FARTHER BACK THAN 3 GNERATIONS AND THAT DOESN'T MATTER
