Question:

Why is genealogy important?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The reasons for tracing family members are different for everyone, and many people DON'T consider it important at all. And that is a perfectly valid perspective for them.
My own thinking is that people today have lost a sense of connection to each other.. not just as relatives, but human community. It can (in my opinion) go to such extreme lengths as losing all respect for other persons.. theft, greed, violence, etc. That's just my personal commentary on society, and one factor.
ANY of my research has the goal of making people more aware of our relationships to each other.. in a technical sense as well as broader. Superficially... it's just a passionate hobby, that challenges my mind. I try to make it worthwhile when possible.
