Question:

Ancestry.com HELP?

I don't get this ancestry.com. I sign up and then the thing cant find me, my mother, my father, my grandfather or anything. Then they want me to create a family tree, but I'm the one adding all the info. So what exactly am I paying for. Am I not searching right? I goto the census and it does find my great grandfather I think. But all it gives is spouse name. So how do I find his father? I want to know what year my family came to this country. Also how do you guys find out if your related to famous people?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I suggest that you don't waste your time with those pricey places that want money. Your best bet when you're digging for your roots is to start with your provincial or state archives. They have a lot of material online such as birth, marriage, and death records. They also provide links to land grants, cemetery records, military sites, census records. You must keep checking back often because the sites are updated as new material is added. Good luck!
