Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: This is a very rare name. A search for it in Familysearch.org returns no hits at all . A search in Ancestry.com (the largest collections of names on the internet) gives about 20 hits, in 2 groups. In the 1880s there are some Querouils coming from France. In the 1910s and a bit forward they are coming from Latin America and Mexico but these could easily have been originally from France and then moved on to the US.

So by and large both from its own spelling and these results it is most likely a French name, a search on Queroille (which a quite common ending that gets cut off in modern times) we do get a few more hits, this time in 1770s England.

On the good side a Google search gives lots of hits, one of them this document in the Familysearch.org library (see link in source list below -- even though truncated it will jump to the right place, it indicates that the name may come from the Poitu area of France (where that is I don't know).
