Question:

Can any experts help with info on these two civil war soldiers??

I am not having any luck. My great great grandfather is J.J. Boullion and he was in the confederate army in Louisiana. Company K, 3rd Regiment, Louisiana Infantry. My dad actually has a copy of his discharge papers, but I want more...hehe.

While researching him I found that there is a J.R. Boullion in the same company K, 3rd regiment, Louisiana infantry. He is the one that died, but that is all I can find about him. I cant find any records except a blub next to him that says died.

Its quite possible the last name is spelled Bullion as thats how it is these days

Can anyone with more experience help me???

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: This needs a little more research to prove the link, but I have a Joseph Boullion, s/o Mary Boullion, b. appx 1835 who was living in East Baton Rouge, LA on the 1850 census. The family was quite wealthy from what I can find on the various registers.

On the next page, listed as "laborer" is a John Bouillion, b appx 1828 and living in the same area. I don't think he's a brother to Joseph, but may be either a hired hand or a cousin.

On the St. Martin Parish enumeration for 1850 I find (2) sons of Pierre Bouillon whose names are Julien (b. appx 1838) and Joseph (b appx 1847).

The National Archives Military Records unit only has the initial "J.R." in its paperwork for the other Boullion.

They also list a "J. Boullion" in the 7th Louisiana Infantry, Co. K.

Sadly, I think a private dying in battle wasn't as important as a private who went home and collected a pension. They get archived and more info written about them. The heroes who died just got buried...and their life stories buried with them.
