I've heard a rumour that my grandfather had an illegitimate child in Italy while he was in the forces there circa 1945/6. How would i trace this person? Is there a web site with info?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Not a chance of finding her. The Italians did their best to hide their "illegitimati" through a series of fake names of birth certificates and baptismal certificates. The Americans denied any existance of any illegitimate children fathered by their troops. The only thing you can do is hope she starts looking for your granddad and has his name and enough info to identify him. Otherwise, you're up against a vast conspiracy to admit any such child was ever conceived out of wedlock.
