Question:

I would like to find out about time arrived in Newfoundland, sons and daughters, anything.Any help woul be greatly appreciated

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: This will not get you too far on ethnic background but it will give you a documented place to start looking.

All of this information comes out of the Newfoundland Genweb site (the url is down below in the source box). A simple search on that site turns up 160 some hits, mostly in the Rootsweb system (where the web site is hosted), so there is lots to look at and find out.

The Conception Bay page provides a number of "census" substitute sources and I will quickly list the key ones, you can look up the rest.

1. The 1805-1806 Fishing Rooms survey of Conception Bay (this was land survey process to solidify ownership claims)

Peter Ezekiel (p. 47) of the document, lot 308, 1 store and 4 gardens purchased from thomas Hawks in 1802

John Perry purchased lot 331 from Peter Ezekiel in 1794

2. The 1835 voters list of Conception Bay:

Peter Ezekeil Sr., Harbour Main, North side
Peter Ezekiel Jr. same, same
Thomas Ezekiel, same, same

3. 1864 Hutchinson's Directory for Harbour Main:

Peter Ezekiel & sons, planters
Peter Ezekiel, planter
Thomas Ezekiel, planter
Thomas Ezekiel, planter
Mrs. O Ezekiel, shopkeeper

4. 1877 Rochfort Directory of Harbour Main

Michael Ezekiel
Thomas Exekiel

It appears that Peter was in Newfoundland by at least 1794 and likely died sometime after 1864. He seems to be the oldest Ezekiel that I can find and the others will be descendents.
