Question:

Ancestor searches...?

I have recently begun to search for my family history and was wondering if any one knows any good websites which are could be useful. I have already tried www.ancestry.com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: That really depends on how much information you want and how much money you are willing to spend. I can give you a list of genealogy websites but, from my experience, they all have the same information. It also depends on the origins of your ancestors. The bulk of my genealogy research is linked to Sweden. I use http://www.genline.com because it gives me access to church records that date back to the sixteenth century. The problem is that this website is only good for those interested in their Swedish ancestors. If you have visited ancestry.com and you didn't find what you're looking for, you should retrace your steps. Talk to family members and find out if they have any personal records stashed away in their attic or basement. That is usually the best place to start genealogy research. The internet is a wonderful tool but it is not your only tool. You should go to your local library and check out books on genealogy research. If you are serious about your genealogy research, you should take the proper steps to ensure you are doing it correctly. On the other hand, if you are simply looking for free internet sites, there are several. I will give you three of the most popular genealogy sites below.

Good luck with your research.
