Question:

Who is James Kakavecos b. 1898 father. He came from Greece, to Indiana.?

Looking for information on this very interesting family. But unable to find anything.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I have found nothing on James outside of the 1930 census when he and his Wife Dorothy were living in Wayne, Indiana. From the census we see that he was 32 and she was 26. The census show that he was born in Greece in abt 1898 and came to the U.S. in 1910. There is no record of his arrival in the U.S. I don't have anything on his place of origin in Greece, his departure from Greece and if he arrived in Canada or the U.S. Since I find no other Kakavecos anywhere in American either his parents were dead by 1930 or he had traveled alone or with a relative to America. Perhaps he traveled here to meet a relative with a different surname . He and Dorothy married about 1920. Per the Social Security Death index, she was born in Indiana 6 May 1903 and died in Indiana 6 March 1995. The census lists three children, all born in Indiana, Eileen age 7, Ruth age 6 and James age 4 years and three months. In 1930 James was working as a cleaner in a cleaning shop. He was also a veteran, having served in the U.S. military during World War 1. Sorry, that I couldn't be of more help but I will continue to try and find something in Greece on him. One problem is that his given name James was probably changed from a Greek name and even the spelling of his last name could have been changed. Another possible place to check might be in the naturalization records - probably through Indiana vital records..
