Question:

Do i have dna from all of my ancestors even the first ones?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: In men, the Y chromosome is passed on from father to son unchanged. And all people inherit their mitochondrial DNA (DNA outside the chromosomes in the nucleus) unchanged from their mother, none from their father. There is some random mutation that could alter the DNA, but it stays stable over many, many generations. These are the things that the National Genographic Project is testing. They were able to detect that my ancestors were nomadic reindeer hunters in Finland 20,000-30,000 years ago.

So everyone has some DNA from their first ancestors, shared by all of your ancestors who were in the line between you and that first ancestor. This is not quite the same as having DNA from *all* of your ancestors, though. Chances are that you do, but there's some "mix and match" action that goes on during meiosis, so it's theoretically possible that DNA from some of your ancestors have been "phased out" so to speak.
