I am looking for any information about the last name Kennedy?

I need any information about Kennedy families that lived in Georgia during the 1900's. I am a black American and I am assuming the Kennedy name came for the Kennedy's that owned my ancestors. I am looking to complete my family tree. My dad's family is rather closed lip about it. I think something bad happened that no one wants to talk about. Its not fair to me or my brother that they are hording information about incidents that occurred in our family tree. Any help would be appreciated.

Grannytoads, I do not have any other information. I only know my grandfather and grandmother Kennedy's dates and place of birth and that's it. I do not know how to get a hold of any census information either. Please advise.
