Family tree software / download?

I am working on my family tree and would like to know where I can download a free software program that is not a trial version. Recommendations anyone?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: For years I have kept thinking I should buy genealogy software. What I've used all this time is the "free tree" from ancestry.com. FIrst I used theirs to organize what I'd found, then eventually downloaded to my hard disk including their software. Lazy or whatever I've continued with the same gedcom through various computers including a lightning strike.

That's right - did you ever think what happens to your data if you have a hard disk failure? Lightning, flood, earthquake, tornado, typhoon, fire, corruption - you name it. Mine's backed up on ancestry.com's servers! I may as well consider that public, FREE tree as my primary. I download fresh every now and again.
