Anyone know a European equivalent of Ancestry.co.uk?

I've been playing around on ancestry.co.uk but am stumped by finding ancestors from overseas. I know a couple of generations back I had family in former East Prussia and Lithuania and would like to trace further back from there. Are there any record sources easily accessible from the UK (ideally online)? An Ancestry.co.uk equivalent for Europe would be ideal. Thanks!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: There isn't a good site specific to Eastern Europe or Central Europe. The German records are available at www.ancestry.de. But anything on that site is limited to records of German interest and not from the Russian partition of Poland. Lots of sites will point you to archives and various researchers. But it will be a few years before the records we're all waiting for will make it onto a searchable online database.
