Question:

Is "Rushia" an old 1930's slang term for Russia or was it it's own place?

My grandmother is very secretive about where her family came from. I know that her and her family spoke Lithuwanian. But when I found her 1930's census the family's country of origin said "Rushia". If it was it's own country what happened to it? Why can't I find information? Please help me!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: You may find just where in Lithuania - or Russia - her family is from by looking for them at castlegarden.org or ellisisland.org immigrant centers, depending when they came.
