Question:

I have an old violin made in 1642?

The lable reads ( Gio: Batta Ruggeri fecit in Mantua 1642) the 42 in 1642 is hand written in ink. I have done some research and have traced it possibly being made by one of the Amati family apprentices named Francesco Rugieri but found that a boy in the home of the Amati's named Gio Batta Ruggieri (garzone) was born in 1642 so I'm having trouble figureing out who made the violin. Does anyone know about this violin?
