How important is ancestry to your indentity?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Well that depends who you ask. For me it has been very important to understand the struggles and victories of my Ancestors.

Ex... My g,g,g,g,g,g grandfather came to America in 1732 and brought his entire family which consisted of 70 people to America to get away from religious persecution. And as soon as he arrived he passed way knowing his family was safe.

Even though this man lived generations ago this story still moves me today to think how hard it must have been to give everything up and leave the country of his fathers to protect his family.

So I would say that the importance is really up the the person,but the knowledge of ones Ancestors is priceless.
