Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: In terms of if the parents genes can cause multiple births, if the father has twins running in his family, or the mother has twins running in hers, we don't really know.

The conditions in the womb of the mother, the hormones she may have taken to help her conceive, and other factors are strong determinants whether the babies will be born.

However, if you check the family tree of the person you know with multiples and you may find out they may not be the only one in the family with multiples babies.
