Question:

Any information for Lord Philip Box?

I am researching my family history and am stuck with my ggggrandfather. The information from my gggrandfathers obituary states that his father was Lord Philip Box who lived where Rochester, New York now is. He owned a large parcel of land there. I do not know when he was born or when he passed away. I know of only my gggrandfather as a child, but there could be more. He was born in 1844 in Streetsville, Ontario, Canada as William Lord Box.

BOX Family
Philip Lord Box was born in Buckingham in 1792. He was a great nephew of Philip Box, banker, of Buckingham. Philip Lord Box rented a large farm in Bourton, a hamlet of Buckingham, at least until 1834. He and his wife Jane, daughter of George French, had a large family baptized at Buckingham from 1821 - 1834. They had two further children baptized in Bedford in 1837 and 1839 (Henry). They left England, with nine children on board the ship Oxford, and reached New York in September 1840.
The famly eventually ended up in Ontario. Philip Lord Box died in Oxford County in 1871. At least four of his children became farmers in Ontario and had families there. Edward Lord Box died in Welland, Ontario in 1913 and Thomas Lord Box died in Welland in 1912.
I imagine they had plenty of descendants.
I am writing the history of Castle House, Buckingham, England, for the present owner, Mrs Barbara Edmondson. There is some confusion in the title to the house around the year 1827, when the house was supposedly sold by Philip Lord Box to Thomas Hearn, a local lawyer. The book is due to be published by Phillimore & Co., of Chichester, in Spring 2007. I hope that some of Philip's descendants will come forward.
