You do the same thing everyone else need to do. Your family tree is unique to you, so you will not find it somewhere waiting for you. You have to create it.

Start with You, and work backwards. Depending on your tolerance for mistakes, use Vital Records to validate your connections, and prove that someone is the child of someone else. Vital records give clues to birth locations, dates, and names, and are the foundation of a good Family Tree.

Ask/Interview all living relatives for anything they may remember or may have, like pictures, certificates, etc.

Collect all that information, then start the hunt for the unknown one family member at a time. When you find one, that will lead to the next.

Indian - Native American? or India? Either way, there are web sites to help you with either. Jamician, there are sites for that too. Once you get the base of your tree information together, get yourself a copy of a genealogy software package.

Then enter all you have into that package, and start looking for what is next. Set your objectives too. For example, "I only want to trace my surname", or "I want my family tree defined for 5 generations", or "this famous person is said to be in my tree, I will prove that", you get the idea. Once you start, you will be hooked for life.

Then, come back here and ask more specific questions, with more details (i.e. what indian tribe, or what part of india, or what Indian name you are tracing). The more specific, the better the help will be.
