Question:

How do I turn my family tree saved files from family tree maker to a gedcom file?

My family tree maker has asked me after every 100 people I add to my family tree if I want to share my tree online. I want to add a family tree to rootsweb but I don't know how to make a GEDCOM file to upload it. Along the same lines I want to be able to import the information in the GEDCOM files I have downloaded already to add to my family tree instead of copying and pasting all the information one line at a time from different sites. Can I do this with Family Tree Maker 2006, if so how?

After taking a chance and trying something last night, hoping not to lose my whole family tree in the process. I was able to open downloaded GEDCOM files in family tree maker, but it still can't figure out how to add it to what I already have instead of having to do it one by one.
