what does that mean UK, and also it just says p on another one.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: According to a family history web site that I have just had a look at, someone who works as a sp-m is a SPIRIT MERCHANT, I have never heard of that job before, and P as far as I know just stands for PAUPER.
