Does anyone know about getting a birth certificate??

when my fiance' was born, he was delivered by a mid wife , his mom was supposed to take the mid wife to go get the birth certificate, but his mom waited to long to take the mid wife that she passed away, and now my fiance has been without a birth certificate all these years. what do i have to do to start this procces on getting him a birth certificate. where do i go? where do i start? [ he was born in STOCKDALE,TX. in 1963]


Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: He needs to contact the Registrar or Clerk of the Court for the county where he was born to petition to have the birth registered. It usually involves using other certified records, like his drivers license, school records, sworn statements of those who have known him since birth and an official statement from the US Census Bureau (there is a special form to fill out with them for a certification of residence in the 1980/1990/2000 decennial censuses). Then he files the petition for delayed certification of birth and they will sign an order that the county will follow to enter him in the birth registry with the State.
