Where to find a birth certificate issued at a hospital from 1952 Vital Records in Phila do not have?

Vital Records in Philly can not find my birth certificate - I had the orginal years ago , lost now - how do I find medical birth records from a hospital?? Any other ideas to find orginal birth records??

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It's possible the record was only filed with the county and not with the city. Either way, the state will have a copy of it. As you said, you know it was legit because you had a copy of it. Now it's just a matter of finding it. Going the route of the hospital is dubious after over 50 years because those records went away a long, long time ago. Medical records are rarely kept more than 25 years. (30 years in Massachusetts...don't know of any state that's longer).
