Question:

Wife of Isaac Decker in PA in 1833?

Isaac Decker had a son Henry Decker born 1833 in PA. later moved to OHIO.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Based on your previous question about Isaac's family in Auglaize Co., OH... I used the 1850 census data as a guide. With the oldest child in 1850 being 24 and born in PA, that means your Isaac was married at least by 1826.

In 1830, there were three Isaac Deckers, two in Westmoreland and one in Luzerne County. One in Westmoreland is much older and the second has too many children, in my opinion. The one in Luzerne Co. fits the profile better. He's in Exeter Township, in his 30s, wife in her 20s, 1 daughter and 2 sons under 10. Based on the 1850 census data, these children would've been Sarah, John and Isaac Jr.

In 1840, it appears that Isaac and his family were living in Wayne Twp., Mercer Co., OH, but that's just a hunch.

I also noticed several Auglaize Co., OH marriage records for Deckers on Ancestry.com. Some of those are Isaac's children.

Your best bets for identifying Isaac Decker's wife are:

(1) Luzerne Co., PA marriage records.

(2) Deeds for Mercer or Auglaize Co., OH (and possibly a will if one was made)

(3) Find a death certificate for one of Henry's children. There's a chance at least one of them lived past 1908 when Ohio starting recording deaths. You could use the marriage records I mentioned above to track the daughters.

Also, it doesn't look like your Isaac's wife was the Barbara mentioned in the other answer above. The trees posted on Ancestry have Isaac & Barbara's family well documented and the children don't match your Isaac at all.
