I need to find my grandfather?

I KNOW THAT MY GRANDFATHER IS DEAD, BUT I WANT TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT HIM AND MY FAMILY. I NEVER MET HIM AND ALL I KNOW ABOUT HIM IS HIS NAME AND THAT HE SERVED IN A WAR. AND THAT HE DIED ABOUT 4-7 YEARS AGO. IF YOU KNOW HOW I CAN FIND OUT MORE ABOUT HIM PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Your mother /father birth certificate will help you determine his date and place of birth. Once you have that, you can obtain his birth certificate and with a definite date of birth, go to social security records. you can go through the The Latter Day Saints genealogy site to access it easily. The SS number will give you date and place of death. Also the Census Bureau.
You can also go to Intelious.com and pay $50 to get all his public records. marriage date, places where he lived, etc...

With some relevant dates, you can try and check if any Info was published in the local newspapers (local library) and request army records. Also the Latter Day Saints genealogy records may have copies of birth certificates, baptism, marriage, etc...which can be obtained through them. It is the most complete genealogy source in the world and has Info. from almost any country. I am not a Mormon but have used it extensively.

Good luck!
