Question:

Related to Tsar - continued?

Sorry, I dont know how to add on to a previous question - am new to this!

The Tsar's illigitimate twin daughters were given the name Ward at their birth. It may be that they took the British Ambassador's surname 'Ward' - as he appropriated the girls as his own to save scandal. One of the Ward sisters married my G-G-G'father James Evans - they lived in the county of Essex in UK. I dont know his date of birth, or the date of their marriage - that's the thing - information is sketchy. As I say, they had 14 children - one of them was my g.grandfather and his name was Gerald Bevan. My father, Anthony Bevan was his son. One thing I do know is that the accounts of the infamous affair of the Ambassador's wife with Alex III (he was prone to being more promiscuous I believe) is not folklore, but very much has run through the family as fact. However, no-one (until ME NOW!) has ever decided to dig into it. I wish, wish I had dates etc., then it would be easy. But there must be a way.

The HM Minister Plenipotentiary to Russia in 1824 (and for that one year alone) was Edward Michael Ward.

The man was extremely influential and is mentioned in one very critical document where the courts of Lisbon and Britain agree to outlaw all slave trading. He was the representative of the King of England who signed for Britain. His title in 1815 being: Edward Michael Ward Esquire, HM Charge d'Affaires at the Court of Lisbon.

Based on this date, it is clear he had to be born pre-1790...probably able to narrow it down to between 1750-1790.

With that, I found this entry on Edward Michael Ward. It may or may not help you...we'll see...
