Any Pirkey people on here?

My Moms maiden name was Pirkey, I am trying to find out some background on the name. My grandfather was Irish, with (as he said) a little touch of Scotch. I heard the name was changed when his family came to the United states.. I was told it may have been Pirkeypile... ????

familysearch.org had an anomalous Henry Pirkey - Birth: 22 MAR 1772 Amsterdam , Netherlands, who married Eve Kiser & then had kids in VA, if you can trust that. Sounds like a reformation religion thing but late.

I don't think there's a shortcut - you'll need to research back generation by generation to figure your family out.
