Question:

Why English have middle name(s) and only 1 surname?

On some countries parents name their children with 1 name followed by the fathers first surname and the mothers first surname, ei. Cristina Perez Rodriguez. Why do they have to loose the mothers surname? It would be easier to track their past relatives, wouldnt it?

Im spanish and ive been able to trace my family five generations back. For legal paper work you only need your 2 first surnames in spain. Knowing my ancestros, Ive been able to work out 8 of my surnames. My mum knows 8 of her surnames, my dad only 4. I got stuck because my dad knows little of his family. My husband, who is english, doesnt know the names of his great-grandparents. Its quite interesting to find out about your family past
