How to get info on a burial/cremation in the UK 1972?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how i could find out where my great grandmother was buried/cremated in 1972. Ive rung all the cemetaries in the district where she died (waltham forest) without luck. ive also tried the last known living relative who doesnt know and also the FHS burial register.

Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: You are on the right track by phoning round the cemeteries in that area. You will however need the EXACT date that she died, the quarter of the year wont do on this occasion. If you email the superintendent of the cemetery, with all of your grans details or as much as you know he will do a search free of charge, with the date. Without the date in the city I live in there is a minimum ⣲5:00 fee. I know this to be true as I was trying to find my great-grandads grave. So rather than pay the ⣲5 I went to the registry office and got the death certificate, emailed the superintendent the date and within 20 minutes he had phoned me back with the information. my great grandad died in 1908. If you want to email me with your grans details I will do a search for you to see in what area she died and anything else that may help you. I may even be able to locate the cemetery for you.
