About romanian names...?

I am wondering something and maybe someone can help, i have noticed that on some romanian peoples names there is the last name and the first but there is an abbreviation with some, for example.... ( not a real persons name ) Danciu Gh, Elena florica....sometimes its GH or a V or any other letter, what is this abbreviation, is it another name? I noticed this when searching on a student list from a university. Does anyone have any idea what this is???
