Question:

Native American Blood Certificate?

How do I go about getting one? My dad's side is more than half Native American, and my mom is like a quarter native... I know this will help me get scholarships (which i am in desperate need of!) I need a family tree and then what?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: First things first, visit the Department of Interior's website which explains the official federal tribal enrollment policy. After you have read it, determine which tribe(s) your parents belong to. You can only register with ONE(1) tribe. If either of your parents have a Certificate of Indian Blood(CIB), it will make the process simpler. If they do not have a CIB, they must register with a tribe before you can register.

Contact the official tribal government of your tribe to find out what their enrollment requirements. If you meet the blood quantum requirements as specified in your parents CIB, then it should be a matter of paperwork to get your own CIB. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
