Has anyone ever heard of the black Irish?? If so do you know the history?

I am trying to retrace all of my family history! I am a mutt of sorts lol With Iroquois on my fathers side. And now my mother says they are Black Irish. Any info on this would be highly appreciated!!

My mother has told me that a ship of african descent had wrecked on the shore. These people liked the area so much that they stayed and married Irish folk.. Sounds very interesting to me and I would like to find out more. I am the third child of my mother and father and I was born with the jet black hair, and have dark brown eyes. I also become very dark in the sun. My sister has dirty blond hair, and hazel eyes, also dark skin, my brother has reddish brown hair blue eyes and light skin. My mother has black hair and light skin, with brown eyes, and my father dirty blonde hazel eyes with very dark skin, he also has indian in him.
