Question:

Can i get more info from my family tree by trying to get in contact with my dead ancestors?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: If by "getting in contact with my dead ancestors" you mean going to the cemeteries to look at their cemetery records, or going to the libraries to look at town histories or obituaries, or even contacting the funeral parlor to look at their records-- then yes! That is a good start. You really learn a lot from these resources. I have the records from the funeral home of my great grandmothers funeral. What really struck me about these records was the fact that on these records they had the car line up! There were 19 cars and for each car it told who was in it. Almost every body in those cars were of course relatives; but it wasn't until I took up genealogy that I learned HOW they were related. The thing to remember is that you never know what you will learn by making contact with your dead ancestors even if it is in a figurative sense.
