Are there any Caribbean born people on here who also have problems finding their ancestors?

Sites such as Ancestry.com do not quite cover Caribbean families and I have been curious about my heritage (and not to mention ethnicity) for a while.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Most of the Caribbean islands were colonies...and some still are. The records aren't released in the same way they would be in a sovereign country. Most of the countries have extensive records, but no desire to put them on the internet. If you want to find the information, you need to write to the Vital Records offices, town halls, colonial offices, churches, or local archives for the records.
