What's the best way to find someone in the UK if you have limited information ab

Question:

What's the best way to find someone in the UK if you have limited information about them?

What if all you have is a name and an area where they lived in London? It seems pretty impossible to me- and I don't even know where to begin to look. But are there records somewhere in London that you can look up? Like birth certificates.. or something like that?

Honestly, I am curious to perhaps find out about my dad and I don't even know where to start. Just to see whether he is still alive or something.

I will need his name, approximate age, where he was born? or where he lives?. It wont cost you anything and I have access to many genealogy sites and records.
