Question:

How can I find public records on the net without paying some .com? If they can access this info why can't I?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: You can use some other web sites. The resolved Q are full of them.

Ancestry.com, the Scottish GRO and the English GRO pay people to scan and/or type data. They pass the cost on to us. You are free to fly to county record offices, put up in a hotel and pore through dusty books, one page at a time, for free. The fee genealogy sites are charging you for convenience.

You can walk graveyards or transcribe census listings or transcribe marriage records for your local US/Canadian Gen Web site or the UK's Free BMD, or the Australian / NZ / South Africa / French equivalent and add to the free data on the web.
